Safeguarding and Child Protection
Safeguarding is a shared duty. Plymouth City Council is fully committed to protecting children and young people and to promoting their welfare in all aspects of its work. We strive to create an environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive, where every child feels respected, valued, and protected.
All individuals involved in delivery, irrespective of their contractual arrangement, are required to follow Plymouth City Council’s safeguarding and child protection framework, including its policies, procedures, and professional expectations. This includes complying with safer working practice guidance and the Council’s Code of Conduct, alongside statutory guidance such as Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
Appropriate safeguarding measures are in place for all relevant staff, including holding a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and completing safeguarding training in line with Council requirements. Staff are expected to keep their knowledge current and apply safeguarding principles consistently in their work. When attending schools or undertaking regulated activity, staff will present photographic identification and operate within Plymouth City Council’s safeguarding assurance arrangements.
